Make Poverty History is a great campaign I have been interested in for a couple of years. Millions of people around the world are campaigning in support of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals. These where signed in 2000 to eradicate extreme poverty by 2015.
John Versluis, Burlington co-ordinator for the Make Poverty History campaign, passed this on along today:
The Burlington and Halton Chapter of the Make Poverty History campaign is looking for your support to encourage fellow Burlington and Halton residents to endorse the campaign.
With a Provincial Election just underway, it is important for our political candidates to recognize that poverty is an issue of significant concern for Burlington and Halton residents. Therefore, we kindly ask that you forward this email to your family, friends and colleagues and ask that they sign-on and endorse Make Poverty History here.
We ask that you make poverty an issue at the door when being visited by political candidates and their canvassers throughout the campaign.
In addition, you are invited to a Poverty Forum hosted by Community Development Halton and the Halton Multicultural Council on Thursday Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
I’m going to try to attend—hope to see you there!
